The World Cup stage in fencing held in Peru has shown the development of Azerbaijani saber fencers.
This was stated to Idman.Biz by Azerbaijani fencer Sabina Karimova, who competed in the team with Anna Bashta, Palina Kaspiarovich and Zarifa Huseynova in that competition.
The athlete emphasized that there are positive changes in the performance of the team:
"Azerbaijan performed well. The team results have improved, and there is an equal fight against strong opponents. Currently, the national team looks more confident and stable compared to previous seasons. It seems that the team is gradually getting in shape and regaining its competitiveness in the international arena."
Karimova also evaluated her performance:
"For me, this stage was very emotionally rich and very useful in terms of gaining experience. There were good matches where I could show my level, but there are also points that I need to work on. The most difficult matches were with high-level opponents. There, everything was decided by concentration, speed of decision-making and endurance until the last touch. Overall, I was partially satisfied with myself: there are positive aspects, but I understand that I can perform better. That's why I continue to work."
The athlete also emphasized that the team is currently intensively preparing for the European Championship. The team is working on the mistakes made after the last starts, focusing on physical preparation and tactics.
Let us remind you that the Azerbaijani national fencing team took sixth place in the World Cup stage held in Peru.
