Azerbaijani fencer Mirnuray Abasova was sure that she would win a medal at the III CIS Games.
The athlete herself stated this in an interview with "Report".
She commented on settling for a bronze medal:
"I prepared seriously for the competition. I knew I would win a medal, I had a feeling of confidence inside me. I will prepare better for the next competitions to change the fineness of my medal to gold. It was difficult for me to beat my opponent in the semi-final because she had more experience than me. Although I was ahead in the score for a long time in the match. But as I said, I could not fulfill my desire because the opponent's experience was great. In the future, I will win a gold medal and raise the flag of Azerbaijan even higher. Today, I thank my coaches who contributed to winning a bronze medal".
It should be noted that Mirnuray Abasova lost to Anastasia Zabelina (Russia) in the semi-final of the epee event of the fencing competition and settled for a bronze medal.
