Azerbaijani wrestlers won 5 medals at the Budapest ranking tournament

The ranking tournament continues in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Lent.az reports that the freestyle wrestling competition ended on the second day of the competition.

Turan Bayramov (74 kg) lost to American David Carr with a score of 3:5 in the 1/8 finals. Our other representative in this weight, Magomed-Bashir Khaniyev, won because Kazakh Alibek Abdikassimov did not enter the carpet, and defeated Alibek's compatriot Yeldos Kuanişbaya ahead of time - 13:2. Khaniyev, who defeated Bahraini Magomedrasul Asluyev 4:2 in the semi-final, lost to Japanese Kоtа Takahashi (0:4) in the decisive match and won a silver medal.

Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) advanced to the 1/4 finals without sweating because Georgian Tornike Samkharadze was injured. The national team member later showed his strength to Slovak Boris Makoyev (3:0) and Turkish Osman Göçen (10:0) and made it to the final. Djioyev won the gold medal because Olympic medalist Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov from Belarus did not enter the carpet due to injury.

Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) eliminated Bahraini Magomed Sharipov (6:1) from the competition, but lost to the last European champion, Greek Dauren Kurugliev, with a score of 1:5 in the 1/4 finals. Our other representative in this weight, Abubakr Abakarov, could not cope with American Trent Hidley in the qualifying stage - 2:7. Abakarov, who went to the consolation match because his opponent reached the final, did not give Hungarian Kristiyan Angyal a chance - 11:0. The bronze medal match did not take place. Kurugliev did not wrestle due to injury, and Abakarov finished the competition in third place.

Thus, our national team completed the tournament with 5 medals. It should be reminded that Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg) and Ali Rahimov (65 kg) won silver medals yesterday. Our team took 3rd place in the team score with 100 points. Our national team is only 5 points behind Georgia and 2 points behind the USA.
