The main goal of the Azerbaijani women's national volleyball team is the Baku stage of the European Championship. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by the team's head coach, Faiq Garayev, in his statement to journalists.
The coach evaluated the team's preparation for the European League:
"During the training process held in Slovenia, several friendly matches took place, and the team achieved victory. The preparation period has been ongoing for approximately 25 days. The main program is aimed at the European Championship, which will be held in August. In the preparatory tournament, 3 key players will not participate due to injuries. Polina Rahimova and Ayshan Abdulazimova are injured. Nevertheless, it is necessary to play the upcoming matches at a high level. Protecting the volleyball players and approaching the European Championship fully prepared is the main goal."
The expert drew attention to the games with the Swedish and Estonian teams, as well as the strength of other opponents:
"Sweden is a strong team. It is possible to win by fighting properly against every opponent. It is also necessary to win the match against Estonia. The 4 games in Spain and Macedonia also serve this purpose. The main goal is the stage of the European Championship to be held in Azerbaijan. Preparations continue according to plan for the team to advance from the group with a high score."
The Azerbaijani national team will play its first European League matches in Baku. In the matches to be held on June 5-7, the team's opponents will be Sweden and Estonia.
