Azerbaijani table tennis players have performed successfully at international competitions held in Uzbekistan.
Idman.Biz reports that athletes won a total of 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the traditional tournament in Andijan dedicated to the memory of the famous table tennis player Rafik Shiriyev.
Among athletes under 13, Mehin Mirzabalaeva won the gold medal by defeating all her opponents and became the winner of the tournament.
Gulnur Karimli (U-11) won a silver medal, losing only in the final match.
Saida Guluzade (U-13) and Yagmur Mammadli (U-15) won bronze medals in their respective age categories.
It should be noted that Azerbaijani athletes also showed successful results at the "WTT Youth Contender" tournament held in Tashkent on May 13–16. In that competition, Onur Guluzade won a silver medal, and Jafar Almadadli and Mehin Mirzabalaeva won bronze medals.
Thus, the Azerbaijani team, which participated in the competitions under the leadership of the head coaches of the youth national teams, Elnur Hidayatzade and Ramil Jafarov, finished the tournament with a total of 7 medals.
