The winner of the "Baku Marathon 2026", held on May 3 at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has been determined.
Lent.az reports that the first athlete to reach the finish line in the marathon among men was Ahmet Alkanoğlu from Turkey. The second place was taken by Ukrainian athlete Vitaliy Shafar, and the third place was taken by Kyrgyz representative Yrskeldi Akerov.
In the women's competition, Elena Tolstykh from Russia took first place, Anna Yusupova from Azerbaijan took second place, and Shirin Akimbay from Kazakhstan took third place.
It should be noted that this year, the Baku Marathon was held for the first time not at a distance of 21 kilometers, but at a full 42-kilometer route, with 25,000 participants.
