A terrible accident occurred during the "Popayan Monster Truck 2026" race held in the city of Popayan, Colombia. During the show, a giant-wheeled vehicle called "La Dragona" lost control and entered the spectator area.
İdman.Biz reports that as a result of the incident, three people, including children, died, and more than 38 people sustained injuries of varying degrees. According to local authorities, a 10-year-old girl was among the dead.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a technical malfunction. It is reported that the vehicle's braking system failed after crossing an obstacle, resulting in the driver completely losing control. The 52-year-old female driver, Sonia Segura, was also injured in the accident and is currently in stable condition.
It should be noted that although the race was authorized, the stadium's capacity was exceeded. Approximately 1,500 spectators were present in the zone intended for 1,000 people.
