The official opening ceremony of the "President's Cup-2026" international rowing regatta dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev has taken place.
İdman.Biz reports that the event started with the singing of the National Anthem. Then the memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov reminded that international rowing competitions are held for the sixth time in Sugovushan.

The Minister wished success to all participants in the competition organized in Sugovushan, the charming corner of Karabakh:
"I congratulate everyone on the occasion of the great sports festival. According to the instructions of the head of state, Ilham Aliyev, special importance is attached to holding international competitions in the liberated territories. Today the struggle will continue in Sugovushan. I believe that the strongest will win."
It should be noted that rowers of different age groups will compete in the competition organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation in a 200-meter distance in a single kayak and canoe.

The first winners of the "President's Cup-2026" international regatta in academic rowing, kayak and canoe, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, will be announced today.
İdman.Biz reports that the competition will start in Sugovushan at 12:00.
The winners will be awarded at the end of the day.
It should be noted that more than 100 athletes from Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are participating in the regatta.
We would like to remind you that the tournament, organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, started on April 27 at the Sarsang reservoir in Agdere. The regatta will end on May 1.
