The final meeting of the Organizing Committee was held ahead of the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, which will be held on May 10-14.
Idman.Biz reports that the state of preparations for the race was discussed in detail at the event held at the Republican Velodrome.
Sahib Alakbarov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the UCI 2.1 category competition and 1st Vice President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation (AzVIF), said that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the successful holding of this prestigious competition, and it can already be stated with confidence that preparations for the international sports event have been completed. Several teams are already in Baku and are continuing their preparations for the race in our capital.
Roland Hofer, Technical Director of the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, Honorary Secretary General of the European Cycling Union (UEC), Swiss, described the return of major cycling competitions to Azerbaijan as a very significant event and said that the organizational work was carried out at a high level. He noted that safety, logistics, medical service and technical support issues along the route are organized in accordance with international standards.
Roland Hofer emphasized that the Baku-Khankendi route is of particular importance both from a sports point of view and for demonstrating the natural beauties of Azerbaijan. According to him, the race participants will compete in stages with different terrains, which will further increase the level of competition in the tournament.
It should be noted that 24 teams representing 20 countries of the world will participate in the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, which will start on May 10. The main goal of the five-day race is to contribute to the development of cycling in Azerbaijan, to further increase the country's prestige in international sports arenas and to promote the sports tourism potential of the region.
