"We will do our best in future stages".
This was stated by cyclist Nofal Nuriyev, representing Azerbaijan in the "Baku-Khankendi" Azerbaijan cycling race, in his statement to Idman.Biz.
He noted that although Azerbaijani representative Shahin Eyvazov was in the lead for most of the race, his rivals were able to catch up with him in the last kilometers:
"Shahin Eyvazov was moving forward in the leading group with 3-4 kilometers left to the finish. Although he did his best, other cyclists caught up with him towards the end of the race. An accident happened with 1 kilometer left to the finish. If that incident had not happened, the result could have been better. He fell behind a bit due to the accident. We will do our best in future stages".
It should be noted that the winner of the first stage of the cycling tour, which started from "Sea Breeze" and ended in Sumgayit, was Belarusian Aleksey Shnilko, representing the Chinese team "Li-ning star".
24 teams representing 20 countries of the world will compete in the UCI 2.1 category competition. The total prize fund of the five-stage race is more than 50,000 euros. The competition will end on May 14.
