Former "Red Devils" goalkeeper David Gaskell has died at the age of 84.
Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that he played in the main team from 1956-1968. He debuted at the age of 16 years and 19 days, breaking a record and becoming the youngest player in the history of the English club.
Although he initially sat on the bench as a substitute, the young footballer had to come on as a substitute because the team's main goalkeeper, Ray Wood, was injured. That match ended with a 1-0 victory for the "Red Devils".
Gaskell continued to play for Manchester United until 1969, winning two championships and the English Cup with the team. The footballer then played for Wigan and Wrexham.
Manchester United released a statement on social media, expressing the club's condolences to Gaskell's family and friends.
