The "Baku Marathon 2026", organized on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, will start soon in the capital.
Lent.az reports that along with Azerbaijani citizens, citizens of the USA, Germany, Great Britain, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and other countries are also competing for victory in the marathon.
As always, people with disabilities, as well as people with Down syndrome, are participating in this year's race. Although the marathon starts at 10 am, the race atmosphere has already begun at Flag Square from 7 am. Yoga and warm-up exercises were held for the participants in the athletes' zone organized here before the race, and DJs, various entertainment and interactive games were organized in the "fan zone".
The "Baku Marathon", which is held for the ninth time, is being organized for the first time at a full distance of 42 kilometers. The race starts from the National Flag Square and the participants will reach the finish line in the "Sea Breeze" area along a designated route.
