Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers will start competing at the European Championship held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
According to "Report", 5 athletes will be on the mat today.
Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg), Murad Mammadov (63 kg), Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg) and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) will try to qualify for the final. Medal matches in these weight categories will take place tomorrow.
Today, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) should also face Jenna Hemyai (Finland) in the bronze medal match. Our representative lost in the semi-final due to an injury.
It should be noted that freestyle wrestlers previously won 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) became the European champion, while Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won silver, Islam Bazarhanov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) and Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg) won bronze medals.
The Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team became the European champion in the team standings. The continental championship will end on April 13.
