"As someone who has won a race marathon in Baku before, I am very happy to win the Baku Marathon again here. The competition was a bit difficult today because we competed in very strong wind conditions."
This was stated by the winner of the "Baku Marathon 2026", Ahmet Alkanoğlu, in his statement to journalists.
"I thank everyone who contributed. Because in the end, organizing a marathon is not easy. There were races in different categories, and this is one of the integral parts of the marathon.
I thank my coaches, my family and everyone who supported me. I would also like to express my gratitude to the sponsors who contributed to the organization of this race and to all sports fans in Azerbaijan.
I am from Turkey. I am happy to wave the Turkish flag today.
I hope that I will achieve better results in bigger marathons," said the winner. / APA
