"A total of 24 teams will start in the race to be held tomorrow."
According to Idman.Biz, this was stated by Sahib Alakbarov, First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, at a press conference.
The official of the organization stated that the maximum number of teams allowed in the competition is 25:
"Teams representing Italy, Spain, Malaysia, Turkey, Estonia, China, Colombia, Morocco, Poland and other countries will compete in the race. Such international competitions have always been held successfully in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, the holding of such competitions was stopped due to certain problems. This year we found the opportunity to restore the competitions. We decided to expand the geography of the race and start it in Baku and finish in Khankendi. The 5-stage race passes through 21 cities of Azerbaijan."
It should be noted that 24 teams representing 20 countries of the world will participate in the Baku-Khankendi Azerbaijan Cycling Race, which will start on May 10. The main goal of the five-day race is to contribute to the development of cycling in Azerbaijan, further increase the country's prestige in international sports arenas and promote the sports tourism potential of the region.
