Zelim Tckayev (81 kg), who won a bronze medal at the World Championships held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, gave an interview to the press service of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation.
Idman.biz reports that the national team member evaluated his matches.
- We congratulate you on your first medal at the World Championships. How are your feelings, impressions?
- My impressions are great, I am very happy, very happy. This medal is very valuable to me. For me, this medal is like gold. Because this is the first award I have won at the World Championships. We prepared a plan with the coaches and that plan worked successfully. I think we did a good job. Yes, the match was difficult, but we still won.
- What went wrong in the semi-finals? Did you have a chance to win?
- Yes, there was. But that's how it turned out. It happened that this opponent surpassed me.
- Bronze medal at the European Championship, bronze medal at the World Championship... Next time you will probably try to increase the fineness of the medal.
- Yes. Next year the World Championship will be held in Baku and I will evaluate all opportunities to win a gold medal.
- We heard that the federation management has already congratulated you. What did they say, how did they congratulate you?
- They congratulated me as always, they supported me.
- To whom do you dedicate this victory?
- To my family, of course, to Azerbaijan - because it gave me everything. I dedicate this victory to the Federation, the entire medical staff, the coaches, and everyone who has been by my side on this journey.
- So many pictures were taken with you now... I guess it's the first time in your life that you've taken so many pictures in one evening. Or has it happened a lot?
- To be honest, there were more when we won the "Grand Slam" tournament in Baku. There were a lot of children, and adults too. My next goal is to return home and rest with my wife and children. That is my current goal.
