The opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Championship among youth in Taekwondo and the Azerbaijan Championship among adults has been held.

İdman.Biz reports that at the event held at the Sports and Health Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, first the National Anthem was played, and the memory of the martyrs who died for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The president of the Taekwondo Federation, Kamaladdin Heydarov, spoke about the work done in the field of sports in our country. He stated that President Ilham Aliyev has always paid attention and care to sports and athletes: "Therefore, our athletes successfully perform in prestigious international tournaments. Azerbaijan appropriately hosts major sports competitions in the world. This is a happy occasion for us. Winning 156 medals during the year, 53 of which are gold, confirms that taekwondo is constantly developing in our country and that interest in this sport is increasing year by year."

The vice-president of the National Olympic Committee, Chingiz Huseynzade, emphasized the development of taekwondo in Azerbaijan. He noted that the President of Azerbaijan, the President of the National Olympic Committee, Ilham Aliyev, met with a number of athletes today and awarded them.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, said that the national championship was successful. According to him, this year was a successful year for Azerbaijani sports. The Minister recalled that President Ilham Aliyev provides high-level support and care for the country's sports.

A total of 436 taekwondo athletes from 72 clubs and sports societies representing the capital and regions are participating in the competition.

It should be noted that the national championship will end on December 27.
