Azerbaijani judokas will compete at the European Cup in Istanbul

The European Junior Judo Cup will be held in Istanbul, Turkey on May 2 and 3. Our country will be represented by a large delegation in the prestigious competition organized by the European Judo Union.

Idman.Biz reports that 44 judokas (32 boys, 12 girls) from Azerbaijan in 12 weight categories will compete for medals in the tournament. The team will be led by Rustam Alimli, head coach of the young men's team, coach Elkhan Rajabli, Amina Abdellatif, head coach of the women's team, and senior coach Sasha Herkenrat-Vimar.

The total number of participants in the international tournament is also quite high. Thus, 515 athletes (311 boys, 204 girls) from 27 countries will test their strength on the Istanbul tatami.

Members of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation's referee panel will also be among the representatives of justice at the competition. Rashad Aliyev, an international referee of the "A" category, Ulvi Aliyev, an international referee of the "B" category, and Islam Najafguliyev, a referee of the republic category, will protect justice at the international tournament.
