Our national team of girls, who won 3 medals at the U15 European Championship held in Caorle, Italy, has returned home.
Idman.biz reports that the team, which won 1 silver and 2 bronze medals and took 5th place in the team standings with 82 points, achieved its best result in terms of the number of medals, their quality, the points collected, and its position in the final ranking.
Head coach Hasret Mammadlyarov said that he assessed this result as satisfactory: "Hopefully, as our training camps continue, we will be able to achieve even greater results. I would like to thank our federation for the conditions created for us during the preparation process for this competition. We could have won more medals. But let's take into account that most of the team members were performing in a major competition for the first time. New girls have been recruited into the team after the national championship. I think our results will improve year by year."
European runner-up Simura Abdullayeva said that she dedicated her successful performance to our martyrs and soldiers on June 26 - Armed Forces Day: "I would like to express my deep gratitude to my family, who worked hard on me, my personal coach Orkhan muellim, and the national team coaches who supported me. I hope that I will prepare better for the upcoming competitions and show even better results, proudly waving our flag."
European third-place winner Maryam Amrali emphasized that they prepared very well for the competition: "I was participating in the European Championship for the first time. That's why there was excitement. But I tried not to let it affect my competition. I was expecting a championship from myself. But I won a bronze medal. I couldn't become a champion due to some mistakes."
European third-place winner Leyla Asgarova said that she expected to reach the final and become a champion: "It didn't work out. It was my first European Championship. I achieved third place. I am very happy. First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to my father. Because my father brought me this far. Then I am grateful to my personal coach Eshgin Hasanov, the national team coaches, Maria Stadnik, who supported me, and my physical training coach Sanan muellim. Each of them has put in a lot of effort for me. Hopefully, I will not waste their efforts. There are still many competitions ahead. I will seriously prepare for these competitions and wave our flag."
