Taleh Nasibov, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation (AMF), does not believe that our clubs performed poorly in the Champions League. Sport24.az reports that he said this in a statement to journalists.
Let us remind you that all three of our clubs - "Aznur", "Birbaşa Bakı" and "Zira" have stopped their performances in the tournament.
Nasibov said that he watched the games of "Aznur", "Birbaşa Bakı" and "Zira" in the tournament: "We had more expectations from "Birbaşa Bakı" and "Zira" clubs. "Aznur" also showed itself from the good side. There were great hopes. There were members of our national team who are world champions here. I don't think they performed poorly. There was bad luck. The penalty series played a decisive role. I think that in the coming years, one of our teams may win the Champions League."
The AMF official did not rule out the influence of the world championship in Baku on the performance of the clubs: "We are not fully focused on this. Our teams performed well. They were on the list of favorites."
He spoke about the goals in the upcoming European Championship: "Psychological preparation is very important. Coaches should work on this. We should not be comfortable. If we have become world champions, we should not be satisfied with that. We intend to increase the number of our titles."
