We watched the Kosovo - San Marino match and thought that San Marino was the weakest team in the group. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by Nazim Huseynov, a member of the Azerbaijani U-19 futsal team, in his statement to the press service of the Futzal Federation after the match with San Marino in the preliminary round of the European Championship.
Huseynov evaluated the games they played:
"The game was more difficult than we expected. It may be that playing two matches in 2 days caused fatigue. We also watched the Kosovo - San Marino match and thought that San Marino was the weakest team in the group. This created some complacency. True, the coaches told us to be careful and that this match would be more difficult than the previous one. Because our opponent had both rested one more day and had nothing to lose. Thank God, we won the important point."
The national team member said that they achieved the goal:
"We came here to take first place and advance to the next stage. Although we could not win in the second match, we finally achieved the goal. By the way, today (yesterday) is my father's birthday. I really wanted to score a goal and give it to him as a gift. I had a chance for this, but unfortunately, after the shot, the ball hit the goalpost. In any case, advancing to the next stage is also a success and I congratulate my father on this."
The futsal player emphasized that the opponents will be stronger in the main stage:
"We will face stronger opponents in the main stage. We have at least 2 months until then. We will have games in the Major League and we will also have good preparation. I hope that we will make the futsal family happy with the points we will win in the main stage."
It should be noted that U-19, who scored 4 points in the group in the preliminary stage of the European Championship, qualified for the main stage. The matches of this stage will be held in Croatia between March 25-30. Our futsal players, who will be in the 7th group, will face their peers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Turkey, in addition to the host Croatia. The winner of the group will qualify for the final stage to be held in Chisinau, Moldova in September this year.
