Elshad Guliyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national minifootball team, won the "Coach of the Year in Non-Olympic Sports" nomination at the event dedicated to the sports results of the year organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In addition, the head coach of the Azerbaijani minifootball team won the nomination "Best Men's National Team of 2025".

"To be honest, I didn't expect my own victory. I think I was just lucky that football and minifootball were separated as Olympic and non-Olympic sports - otherwise, Gurban Gurbanov would undoubtedly have won (laughs). He deserved it at least because his team is the only team in our country that gathers 30–40 thousand fans in stadiums.
As for our team, yes, we showed such a result that it was impossible to ignore or not appreciate it. It does not happen every day and every year that the Azerbaijani national team is the strongest in the world in any sport. I am very happy that the hard work of our athletes was appreciated with a victory in such a prestigious nomination," said Elshad Guliyev.
