While intense football matches continue in many parts of the world, including Azerbaijan, minifootball has been somewhat overshadowed. However, it is in this sport that the Azerbaijani national team won the main title at the home world championship in May this year and retains the title of current world champion.
The head coach of the national minifootball team, Elshad Guliyev, spoke with Idman.Biz about the situation in the team and the formation of next year's squad.
"I am closely following the national championship in search of new players. Next May, the next test awaits us - the European Championship in Bratislava. It is known that we could not defend the title at the last European Championship and now we hope to win it back," E.Guliyev emphasized.
The expert said that there will be serious changes in the composition of the national team.
"Despite the youth of the team, none of the 17 world champions are guaranteed a place in the squad in advance. Everyone must prove again with their game that they deserve to be at the European Championship. Moreover, we have a choice: there are enough talented players in the Azerbaijani championship and it is very likely that almost half of the team's squad will be renewed," the head coach added.
