The "Aznur" club, which stopped fighting in the 1/8 finals of the Minifootball Champions League, was superior to all its rivals in the games it played.
The head coach of the team, Rajab Farajzade, said this in his statement to "Report".
The specialist said that they were not defeated in any of the 4 games:
"We played 4 games in the Champions League and were not defeated in any of them. We were clearly superior to our opponents. We just couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities. In the first game, the opponent almost had only one chance. After the shot, the ball hit the player and went into the net. We finished the group with 7 points and qualified for the play-off stage. Here we faced last year's finalist. Although we were 2:1 ahead, they scored a goal from a free kick with 20 seconds left. Immediately after that, the game ended and the penalty shootout started. You know that the chances are equal here. Unlike us, the opponent accurately executed all three penalties. This team then defeated "Birbasha Baku" in the same situation."
The head coach was satisfied with the team's performance:
"I am extremely satisfied with my team. I was also satisfied with the performance of Mohamed Bagayoko, whom we invited from Mauritania. The team performed very well. If we could have scored the goals we wanted, our results would have been different. In fact, we used to take advantage of scoring opportunities at other times. Probably, the players were nervous. I don't plan to make any changes to the squad. As every year, we will compete for the championship. It is possible that Bagayoko will rejoin our ranks in the play-offs. Since we rented him, he will not play in the championship."
R.Farajzade also touched upon the results of other Azerbaijani teams "Zira" and "Birbasha Baku" competing in the Champions League:
"Of our other clubs, "Birbasha Baku" performed well. They just played poorly in the last match. It was as if they were out of rhythm, there was no dynamics. "Zira" also failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The opponent was a more experienced team. They converted dangerous situations into goals. We, on the other hand, continue our training. After returning from the trip, we gave the team a week off. From the first day, we will restore our preparation again."
It should be noted that Azerbaijan was represented by three clubs in the Minifootball Champions League. "Aznur" stopped fighting in the play-off stage. "Zira" and "Birbasha Baku" stopped in the 1/4 finals.
