"We had a difficult season. There were interesting matches. We fulfilled the task of becoming champions and I am happy about that. Of course, it was not easy, there were matches where we lost and drew," said Araz-Nakhchivan futsal player Emin Kurdov, Sport24.az reports.
The captain also evaluated the UEFA Champions League draw:
"The goal is to achieve good results in the Champions League. The draw has already taken place. We are the highest rated team in our group. That is, on paper, Araz-Nakhchivan is the favorite. Now we have to prove it on the field as well. We will start preparing at the end of July. We will have a good training camp and set off towards our goal."
According to Kurdov, the next 3 matches are very important in terms of his career: "I was able to help my team as much as I could on the way to the championship. Our coaches also noted this every time. Now we have to continue this in the international arena. As captain, we understand our responsibility and the expectations from us. By the way, we have renewed the contract with Araz-Nakhchivan, which has expired. I will be in the squad of the national champion for another year. There are familiar ones among our opponents. We also faced Belfast Sparta last season and won with a score of 7:1. The champions of Scotland and Austria are mysterious for us. Before the games, the coaching staff will collect the necessary information and tell us how to play. In any case, the goal does not change: to qualify for the main stage. To achieve this, we will do our best to restore Araz-Nakhchivan's former glory. Our squad is also being strengthened. Our new transfers will join the team from the first day of preparation."
It should be noted that Araz-Nakhchivan will be in Group F of the preliminary stage of the UEFA Champions League and will face Northern Ireland's Sparta, Scotland's PYF and Austria's Ljuti. The matches of this group will be held in Austria from August 26 to 31. Only the group winner will advance to the main stage.
