Lando Norris, the recent Formula 1 world champion, has revealed his proposals for making races more interesting and conducted in a cleaner competitive environment.
Idman.Biz reports that the British McLaren driver believes that the current racing model is not at the desired level for fans and drivers. In his opinion, Formula 1 should return closer to karting principles.
Norris is considered one of the most critical drivers of the 2026 regulations. The main topic of discussion in the new regulations is the power distribution between the internal combustion engine and 350-kilowatt batteries in a 50/50 ratio. It is reported that this decision aims to increase the interest of manufacturers such as Audi, Honda, General Motors, and Ford in Formula 1.
According to the British driver, a good race should not arise from one driver's battery being at 100 percent and another's at zero. He believes that the main issue is to allow cars to follow each other more closely, reduce weight, improve tires, and minimize aerodynamic dependence.
Norris called karting the "purest form of racing." In his opinion, in karting, pilots can fight more closely and more realistically behind each other because there is no "dirty air", serious aerodynamic impact, or artificial advantage due to batteries.
Norris also admitted that the process is not simple. According to him, Formula 1 is both a sport and a business, and the interests of manufacturers must be taken into account. However, he positively assessed the work done by the FIA to improve the races.
