Vugar Nadirov, a former leading football player of our national team and "Qarabagh", and currently working as a coach, has unexpectedly left the "Shamkir" club, a representative of the II League, which he has been leading since November last year.
Idman.Biz was able to talk to him almost immediately after his resignation. We present this interview "hot" to our readers:
- What made you take such a step after only five rounds in the II League? After all, the team was not showing bad results...
- You are absolutely right: no one can call three wins and two losses a bad result at the beginning. But for some reason, only victory was demanded from me, and no investment was made in the team. Moreover, everyone considered themselves a coach...
- So everyone was interfering in your work?
- You can't imagine how much they interfered! Everyone was trying to give advice, to "shove" someone into the team.
- I thought you meant the president of the club, Vusal Mammadov...
- On the contrary, he was the least interfering person in my work! He did everything he could for the club to survive, but financially he could only keep the team for one month. After the fifth round, they told me that there was no money left. It wasn't just about the salary of me and the coaching staff - the whole team, players, staff were left without salary. How could we work if we only received salary for one month, i.e. a maximum of four games?! After the fifth round, I was simply faced with a fact. I wish they had said from the beginning that I would only lead the team for five rounds - that would have been more honest.
- What about AFFA? Doesn't the Association help the club?
- Yes, the club was actually living at the expense of AFFA. The team's budget was a maximum of 11 thousand manats, five thousand of which was considered AFFA's subsidy. I even paid for the apartment I rented out of my own pocket! I don't understand why they extended the contract with me in the summer if they couldn't keep the team?! After all, they knew that I was studying to get an "A" category so that I could run a club in higher leagues. Moreover, I paid all the expenses of this education myself, whereas normally the club where the coach works should cover these expenses.
- Is it true that no one in Shamkir helped the club's work? Maybe there was sponsor support?
- Of course, there were people who helped us both last season and this year. But they also only demanded victory, which was impossible with the club's financial situation. When I said that I could not win every round, those people withdrew. After all, what victory can we talk about if the club didn't even have its own bus? We went to the games in a "Sprinter". We only went by bus once - because there was a game that day and the team had to be provided with at least minimal comfort.
- What are you planning to do now?
- I will look for a new team. I have to continue my education to get the "A" category. Fortunately, AFFA understood the situation and gave me a small break. Although I already felt almost like a "Shamkirli" - I was passionate about the interests of the club. I even watered the stadium myself.
