Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has shared his thoughts on teammate Mohamed Salah's future and the remainder of the season.
Idman.Biz reports that the Dutch defender said they hope Salah will return to the team and continue to play a key role.
"We all hope that Salah will come back and be important for us for the rest of the season. But we all know football and we don't know what will happen," the captain emphasized.
Van Dijk specifically highlighted the striker's leadership role in the team:
"I hope he stays, because he is one of my leaders and he is very important to us."
The captain also touched upon the conversation he had with Salah:
"I told Mo Salah that I want him to stay. I won't tell you the rest. I would very much like him to be with us. But the fact is that he is going to the Africa Cup of Nations."
