"We all hope that Salah will return and be important to us for the rest of the season. But we all know football and we don't know what will happen," the captain emphasized.
Van Dijk specifically highlighted the striker's leading role in the team:
"I hope he stays because he is one of my leaders and very important to us."
The captain also touched on the conversation he had with Salah:
"I told Mo Salah that I want him to stay. I won't tell you the rest. I would very much like him to be with us. But the fact is that he will go to the Africa Cup of Nations."
