Virgin Van Dijk, footballer of "Liverpool", spoke about the team's former head coach Jurgen Klopp and revealed that his relationship with the German specialist continues to this day.
İdman.Biz reports that the Dutch defender emphasized in an interview with "Man About Town" magazine that Klopp holds a special place in his career.
"Everything was great from our first meeting. Klopp is a very open and direct person. Our relationship has always been very good from the first day until the moment he left the club. He means a lot to me and we are still in touch," Van Dijk said.
The player, who was the world's most expensive defender at the time when he moved to "Liverpool" in January 2018, also recalled Klopp's trust in him:
"There was a lot of talk around the transfer fee. But I strongly felt how much the head coach trusted me."
Van Dijk won the Premier League and the Champions League with "Liverpool" under Klopp's leadership. Nevertheless, the defender said that he does not want to put one person above others in his career.
"I don't like to prefer one person over another. But Klopp is one of the people who have influenced me the most," the "Liverpool" captain added.
