Vagif Sadigov: "Neftchi" must protect its reputation in the game against "Qarabagh" and increase its chances for European cups

"I believe that we will witness a completely different game in the derby, considering the name, reputation and greatness of "Neftchi".

These words were said by Vagif Sadigov, chairman of the AFFA Coaches Committee, while talking about the postponed "Neftchi" - "Qarabagh" game from the 21st round of the Azerbaijan Premier League.

He stated that the necessary lessons should be learned from the result of the first match, and the teams should demonstrate a completely different approach.

"Neftchi" will try to show a different game in order to protect its reputation in front of its fans, and I believe that we will see a completely different "Neftchi". In the meeting held on April 26 (5:1), "white-blacks" started fighting against the strong "Qarabagh" from the first minute without hesitation and did not make a bad impression at all. But many simple mistakes eventually led to a big defeat," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.

The AFFA official did not rule out that these ideas could create complacency in the Aghdam club:

"There may be some complacency in "Qarabagh". But we must take into account that this is a very important match. Everyone from fans to football players and club employees have been waiting for this match for years to show themselves in a good way. In other words, we are waiting for a tense and interesting game. Again, taking into account the result of the first game, I think that we will witness a completely different picture and the result will be different."

V.Sadigov emphasized that the capital's representative has not yet lost its chances to qualify for European Cups:

"Neftchi" must understand that despite today's defeat, they still have a chance to qualify for European Cups, that is, to represent Azerbaijan. But with each game, these chances are decreasing, and the extent to which they will increase depends solely on the team itself. Understanding this, the team must come out on the field in the return game, put in their maximum effort and fight to get a positive result."

It should be noted that the derby match, which will take place on April 30 at the "Palms Sports Arena", will start at 20:00.
