We didn't start well in the first 15-20 minutes of the match against Shafa. However, we didn't allow our opponent to play either. We conceded a goal after a sudden loss of the ball.” These are the words of Oruc Mammadov, a player for Sumgayit, in his interview with Sport24.az.
The 22-year-old footballer shared his thoughts on the match where his team beat Shafa in the 8th round of the Misli Premier League:
“Nevertheless, we recovered later, we had some goal episodes and, thank God, we won. Our team is very cohesive. Everyone, whether playing or not, is enthusiastic. This played a big role in our victory. Frankly, no one expected this result at the beginning of the season. But as the rounds passed, we thought, we are working so hard, why not be at the top of the table? We step onto the field with this thought and our winless streak is continuing. But the job isn't done. Many difficult games lie ahead. God willing, everything will be fine.”
Mammadov also revealed his expectations for the upcoming game against Imishli in the next round:
Imishli is a very good team. They have won recent games too and this will motivate them. Nevertheless, our target is three points too.”
It is worth noting that Sumgayit has settled in 5th place with 13 points after 8 rounds in the Misli Premier League.
