Spain has secured a fifth spot in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
İdman.Biz reports that the Spanish team secured the extra spot in the final of Europe's premier club competition thanks to Rayo Vallecano's 1-0 victory over Strasbourg in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League semi-final.
As a reminder, since the expansion of the Champions League to 36 teams, two additional places in the main stage have been awarded to the clubs that earned the most points in the UEFA coefficient table in the previous season. England had previously secured an extra spot in the Champions League.
With four rounds remaining in the Spanish league, the top four in La Liga include Barcelona (88 points), Real Madrid (77), Villarreal (68), and Atletico Madrid (63). Betis is fifth with 53 points, while Celta Vigo is sixth with 47 points.
