The experienced specialist assessed the chances of the Azerbaijani national team in the "FIFA Series - 2026" international tournament.
"Many players don't play 90 minutes in their teams, and some don't play at all. The lack of playing practice can create problems for us. Our opponents are very weak. It is not right for Nariman Akhundzade and Mahir Emreli to join the team in the matches against them. In the sense that both players should stay in their clubs and strengthen themselves. This is a smart move. We must create opportunities for the players. It's not like it's the qualifying matches for the World and European Championships... It's a friendly match, as I said, the opponents are very weak. Mahir and Nariman will not be needed," he said in a statement to sport24.az.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face Saint Lucia on March 27 and Sierra Leone on March 30. Both games will be held at the Sumgayit city stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade and will start at 19:00.
