Azerbaijani para judoka Ilham Zakiyev has won a gold medal at the European Championships in Germany. According to Sport24.az, the National Paralympic Committee announced this.
He defeated Britain's Daniel English in the semi-finals (J1, +95 kg) and advanced to the final. Ilham Zakiyev, who defeated Spanish Garros Suarez with an ippon in the final, rose to the top step of the podium and became the European champion. This is the 10th European championship in the career of the para judoka.
Recall that yesterday, Saleh Sultanov (J1, 81 kg) won a bronze medal in the competition.
