"Schalke" spent three consecutive seasons in the second Bundesliga and was on the verge of falling into the third division. Finally, the "miners" returned to the German elite.
Lent.az, citing foreign media, reports that Loris Karius was one of the heroes of Gelsenkirchen. For the crucial game with Fortuna Dusseldorf, the goalkeeper left his wife, Diletta Leotta. The TV presenter works and lives in Italy and is currently preparing for childbirth - she is nine months pregnant.
Karius said before the game with Fortuna: "Diletta is already at a stage where doctors have forbidden her to travel. Unfortunately, she will not be able to support me at the stadium. But I just can't miss this match! I've been working all year to get into the top league."
The work has paid off: Karius is going to the Bundesliga with champion Schalke.
The goalkeeper shared pictures from the important game, writing in the caption: "It doesn't matter how painful your fall is, what matters is how you get back up."
