Referee Daniel Siebert, who officiated the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, erred by not awarding a penalty to the London team early in the second half after midfielder Giuliano Simeone was brought down in the Gunners' penalty area.
This was reported by the Archivo VAR account, which specializes in refereeing, on its X social media page.

"In the 51st minute, Arsenal defender William Saliba passed the ball to Simeone, who dribbled past goalkeeper David Raya in a one-on-one situation. However, the Argentine defender fell in a challenge with Gabriel Magalhães and was unable to shoot into the empty net. Zibert did not record a foul, and the VAR referee did not call him to the monitor.
This is a penalty. Impeding the player is not very obvious, but it is enough to prevent the shot," Archivo VAR said in its report.
