After the "Araz-Nakhchivan" - "Zira" match (3:2) of the XXXIII round of the Misli Premier League, the head coach of the visiting team, Rashad Sadygov, answered journalists' questions. Sport24.az reports that the specialist first shared his thoughts on the meeting:
– It was the last game of the season. In fact, it was difficult to focus on the match because we had no chance to qualify for European Cups. However, the players showed a determined game. Today's match, yesterday's "Sumgayit" - "Garabagh" game (3:4) and others were interesting, even though there was no claim. All the teams fought to the end. We could have won today, we had good chances. We conceded goals from simple mistakes. We finished the season, we need to think about the future. I express my deep gratitude to our team, our fans, and our management. We fought to the end in all three fronts. We lost the result at the last moment in each of them. The important point is that the players played with determination. Something didn't work out, we need to draw conclusions from them.
– How would you rate the championship?
– I congratulate the winners, everyone. I wish success to the teams that will participate in the European Cups, each of them deserved it. There were some disappointing aspects – the fields, the games being held in different stadiums. But today we are on the losing side, I will not talk much because we did not get the result we wanted, it may be understood differently.
– There was a gross mistake by the goalkeeper in the first goal you conceded. It seemed like there was also a referee error in the second goal…
– Aydin Bayramov himself understands that the first goal was his responsibility. But Patrick Andrade also scored a clever shot. I didn't understand the second goal, VAR called, but the referee stood by his decision. The last time something like this happened to us, it was talked about for a long time. Let's see how it will be explained this time... In general, the chances we missed in the last two matches, the goals we conceded are a picture of the overall season. We had better games compared to last year. But when there are results, everything is considered great, and when there are no results, negative aspects come to the fore.
– Three of the award winners are foreign head coaches…
– Both locals and foreigners have come to ambitious teams. "Sabah", "Neftchi"... As for "Turan Tovuz", Aykhan Abbasov had built a good system there before Berdyev. Berdyev also made additions and took transfers to a different level. But the issue is not only about foreigners. Clubs, club leaders are doing serious work, this cannot be denied. Currently, ambitious teams are conducting serious selection. This applies not only to those at the top, but also to those in the middle ranks. Today, club leaders are trying to increase the level of the championship and withstand competition. If we look back 8 years, we will see that not much money was allocated to the formation of clubs. But today everyone is doing their best. I believe that at least three of our clubs will play in the European Cup play-offs this season.
– The financial issue is important. Isn't it difficult to compete with those who have a higher budget than you?
– It's not difficult, but the main thing is to make a good selection in the summer. The next season will be a more competitive race. We will do our best to withstand it. For many years, the main goal in Azerbaijan has been to participate in European Cups. We were second in the last two years, we went to the European Cup play-offs. The rivals were also tuning in differently to us. In my opinion, the next season will be better for us.
– The club management was watching the game from the stadium today. Do you think this will continue next season?
– Orkhan Mammadov loves football. This club has been operating for 12 years. I have been here for the last 6 years. Orkhan muellim did not criticize the team even when the results were bad, we had discussions, but he did not go too hard on anyone. He also went to the field and congratulated the players when he lost in the Cup final. He is always with the team. Orkhan muellim has a great football mind. I thank them, we did our best, we just lacked some points to achieve what we wanted.
