The Professional Football League (PFL) aims to hold the final match of the Azerbaijan Cup before the last rounds of the championship.
This was stated to "Report" by Sanan Abdullayev, the Media and Marketing Director of the PFL.
He said that they are drawing up plans for this:
"We also thought about determining the winner of the Azerbaijan Cup earlier than the champion of the Premier League, in other words, holding the final match early in the last season. After analyzing certain points, we postponed it. We have certain ideas about this from the next season, and we are working on it. That is, we aim to hold the final game of the Azerbaijan Cup before the last rounds of the championship and we are drawing up plans for this. Only then should the teams be ready to play every 3 days."
The PFL official emphasized that in many European countries, the cup competition ends before the championship, and the final match falls on a weekday:
"We must think not only about the finalists, but also about the other 10 teams. The balance of play and rest must also be taken into account in the schedule of other teams. Only, in that period, the finalists will play in a tight schedule, which is normal. Most likely, next season the final match of the cup will be held before the last rounds. It is also necessary to take into account that after the season, the players and teams should rest, the players called to the national team camps, and then the training camps of the teams that will go to the European Cup games."
S. Abdullayev also spoke about the breaks that will occur in the 12-team and three-round Premier League:
"More detailed information about the break will be given at the draw ceremony on July 18. In general, the fact that the championship starts relatively late - on August 15 - means that there is more opportunity for preparation or rest. During the winter break, clubs will also have a little more opportunity to rest or prepare."
It should be noted that the draw for the new season in the Azerbaijan Premier League will be held on July 18.
