Barcelona’s 19‑year‑old player and Spain international Pau Kubarsi has been the youngest defender nominated for the Ballon d’Or since 2016.
İdman.Biz reports that since the format with 30 nominees was introduced, Kubarsi is the youngest defender to make the list.
In the 2025/2026 season Kubarsi played 48 matches for Barcelona in all competitions and left a mark with a goal. With the Spain national team he became the 2026 World Champion.
The Ballon d’Or award ceremony will be held in London on October 26, 2026.
