Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Süle has announced that he will end his professional football career at the age of 30.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to BVB publication that the German footballer will retire at the end of the 2025/2026 season. His contract with Dortmund expires on June 30, 2026.
Süle announced this decision on the "Spielmacher" podcast. The defender stated that his idea to end his career was fully clarified after a knee injury he received in a match with Hoffenheim.
During his career, the 30-year-old football player won the Champions League and celebrated five Bundesliga titles. He wore the jersey of "Bavaria" in 2017-2022, and in 2022 he moved to "Borussia Dortmund".
Süle has played 49 games for the German national team. As part of Borussia Dortmund, the defender, who appeared in 77 matches, scored three goals. He has been injured 31 times during his career.
