French national team striker Kylian Mbappe has set a record series for scoring goals for the national team in the 21st century, distinguishing himself in seven consecutive matches. He thus repeated the achievement of his legendary compatriot Jean-Pierre Papin.
Lent.az reports that the striker opened the scoring in the 32nd minute in a friendly match against Brazil last night.
Prior to that, Mbappe also scored in matches against Spain (June 5), Germany (June 8), Ukraine (September 5), Iceland (September 9), Azerbaijan (October 10) and again Ukraine (November 14).
Before Kilian Mbappe, the only footballer to score in seven consecutive matches for the French national team was Jean-Pierre Papin. His record dates from September 1990 to November 1991.
The goal scored against the Brazilian national team led Mbappe to approach another record in French football. He is currently only one goal behind Olivier Giroud, the team's top scorer: Giroud has 57 goals.
39-year-old Giroud finished his national team career two years ago.
