Former Bayern Munich player Markus Babbel criticized the Ballon d'Or award. According to Sport24.az, he stated this in an interview with Bild:
"The biggest circus show in the world. I laugh every time at the pain of people, even players from major clubs, who don't win the award. It's a huge comedy."
Babbel also suggested completely abolishing the voting system for individual awards in football.
It should be noted that this year's Ballon d'Or award ceremony will take place in London on October 26. The main contenders for the award are Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi, Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, and Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe.
