Former Belgian national team goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff has decided to auction off the jersey he swapped with Diego Maradona in the semi-final of the 1986 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that Argentina defeated Belgium 2-0 in that match, with both goals scored by the legendary star. When the two sides met again in 2016, Maradona signed the jersey, writing "To the sympathetic Jean-Marie, with all my love."

This jersey, previously kept in a bank vault, has an initial price of $750,000 (1,275,000 AZN). At a previous auction in New York, it was valued at $1.2 million (2.04 million AZN), but no buyer was found. The collection will be exhibited for the last time on May 6 in Brussels, and the international auction will take place on May 30 in Paris.

The 72-year-old former goalkeeper explained his decision by saying he did not want the collection to gather dust and did not intend to pass this responsibility on to his daughters in the future. Items up for sale also include Johan Cruyff's jersey and Pfaff's medals won in various years.
