Kurban Berdyev, the head coach of "Turan Tovuz", stated that he supports the complete abolition of the limit on foreign players in Russian football and cited the Azerbaijani championship as an example. Sport24.az reports that the experienced specialist spoke about this while being a guest on the "Cappuccino & Catenaccio" podcast:
"When there is no limit, competition increases. This step has already been taken in Azerbaijan. The level has simply increased incredibly. Now the leaders can lose points in the game with any team. Azerbaijani football players, including those in our team, are now making more efforts than last year. Because when there was a limit, they understood that their places in the team were guaranteed. Now, they are making more efforts and getting into the national team. They would not have been able to achieve this in last year's system. They were just content with playing in their clubs. Competition is everywhere. And business is driven by competition. It's the same here - every football player grows. Time proves it."
It should be noted that "Turan Tovuz", coached by Berdyev, finished the completed season in 3rd place and gained the right to play in European Cups after 32 years.
