King Charles III of Great Britain has knighted 50-year-old footballer David Beckham at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
Idman.Biz reports on this with reference to the BBC.
The former captain of the England national team received the knighthood for his services to football and British society.
Beckham said he was very proud of the knighthood:
"People know how patriotic I am - I love my country. I have always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I have had the chance to travel all over the world and the only thing people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. I am proud of that".
Beckham was joined at Windsor Castle by his wife Victoria and his parents Sandra and David.

Victoria Beckham, who received the Order of the British Empire in 2017 for her services to the fashion industry, designed and sewed the suit her husband wore at the ceremony.
"King Charles was very impressed with my suit," David noted.
David Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Milan, PSG and Los Angeles Galaxy. He won the English Premier League six times with United and the Champions League in 1999. David has played 115 games for the England national team and scored 17 goals. Beckham is currently the co-owner of the US soccer club Inter Miami, where Lionel Messi plays.
