"Napoli" midfielder Kevin De Bruyne spoke about Antonio Conte's decision to leave the post of head coach of the Italian club. Sport24.az reports that the Belgian footballer did not hide his satisfaction with Conte's departure:
"Of course, it was difficult for me at the club. Because Conte's view of football is completely different from mine. To be honest, I never had the opportunity to play in my favorite position. In any case, I always tried to put all my strength into the team. We played very defensively. If you try to win every game by one goal using the 4-5-1 scheme, you are playing a certain type of football. At the beginning of the season, we went even deeper. Our central striker scored only 10 goals, so as you can imagine, the statistics will not be impressive. Am I happy about Conte's departure? Yes. As far as I understand, he didn't have to stay. There were promises about how we would play in the summer, but in the end very little of it came true. I regret that. Football should be fun and unfortunately I saw that this aspect was lacking. I never got to play in my position under Conte. My future? I still have a year left on my contract, but I want to talk about it. There was a lot of talk last year about how we would play and what we would do, but nothing happened."
"Napoli" played 91 games in all competitions under Conte, recording 54 wins, 19 draws and 18 losses. Next season, the Neapolitans will participate in the Champions League.
