Congo national team official Jerry Kalemo said the team has canceled a three-day domestic training camp and a farewell ceremony with fans ahead of traveling to the 2026 World Cup due to the Ebola outbreak.
İdman.Biz reports that the World Health Organization had previously declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern.
"The training was supposed to take place in three stages: in Kinshasa (the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo - ed.) where we said goodbye to the fans; in Belgium and Spain where we played two friendlies against Denmark and Chile; and the third stage starting on June 11 in Houston, USA. Only one stage has been canceled - in Kinshasa," ESPN quoted Kalemo as saying.
