"St. Pauli" reduced the deficit late in the game but could not avoid defeat. Abdoulaye Cissé scored a consolation goal in the 88th minute.
After this victory, "Mainz", with 37 points, is in 10th place in the league table. "St. Pauli", with 26 points, is in 16th place.
