FIFA has granted UEFA's request and extended Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni's punishment to include international competitions.
According to Idman.Biz, citing The Athletic, the Argentinian footballer previously received a six-match ban for racist behavior, with three matches suspended.
The ban only applies to international matches. Therefore, Prestianni will be able to continue playing domestically for Benfica.
However, if he is called up to the Argentina national team, he will be forced to miss the first two matches of the 2026 World Cup.
Gianluca Prestianni made his debut for the Argentina national team last November. He was also called up to the national team in March, but did not play.
